Welcome aboard, Nick!
Nick, our new Account Manager NL!
Nick, tell us: who are you?
My name is Nick van ’t Spijker, born and raised in Hengelo, Overijssel. I am 30 years old and recently moved in with my girlfriend (also in Hengelo). In 2020, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Commercial Economics at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede. After my studies, I worked for five years as an account manager at a packaging distributor. In addition, I am an avid football enthusiast. Not only have I played football myself for many years, but I also enjoy watching matches and frequently attend FC Twente games. I also like to stay active by playing padel and going skiing.
Are you familiar with camping yourself?
Yes, I actually grew up with camping from an early age. At first, we always went with a folding trailer, and later we spent many years traveling with a caravan. Last holiday, my girlfriend and I went camping with a tent in Italy. By now, I have experienced nearly all camping options, so I am definitely well-acquainted with camping!
And what will you be focusing on in the coming period?
At De Waard, I will be focusing on the Dutch B2B market, with an emphasis on the sales of glamping tents. My goal is to inspire campsite owners and immerse them in the experience of glamping. I believe the market and demand for this are continuously growing.
A great challenge indeed. Where do you see the main opportunities?
I mainly see opportunities with campsites that want to differentiate themselves while preserving the authentic camping experience. I immediately think of nature campsites, farm campsites, and similar locations, as they are often perceived as natural, tranquil settings. I also see opportunities in the fact that glamping tents often represent a more affordable investment compared to repeatedly installing new cottages or mobile homes. While this option is more seasonal, I believe it can be of great added value for such campsites. Consumers are increasingly seeking more luxurious camping options with added comfort, and private sanitary facilities are becoming especially popular. In short, there are plenty of opportunities, and I look forward to getting started!
