Building a brighter tomorrow together
Karsten Tenten and Willem Wagenaar acquire De Waard Tenten
Today we are announcing significant news: Karsten Tenten and Willem Wagenaar, from within the current management of De Waard Tenten, have reached agreement on the acquisition of De Waard Tenten and the production facility in Czechia from Sunshine Group. With this acquisition, two leading Dutch A-brands come together, creating a strong foundation for further growth within the camping and outdoor market.
Two distinct identities, one strong future
Karsten and De Waard each have their own history, character and loyal following. De Waard has been known for generations for its distinctive cotton tents, while Karsten has built its own position with its inflatable tents. This distinct identity and independent position will be fully retained: De Waard will continue to operate from its familiar location in Hattem, and Karsten from Zwaag.
Visible to the customer
The collaboration will also become visible to the customer. The range of both Karsten and De Waard will from now on be offered in both Hattem and Zwaag. As a result, both locations will bring two leading Dutch A-brands together under one roof, resulting in an even more comprehensive range within camping and outdoor.
More similarities than differences
Behind the differences, it turns out there are many similarities: a love of camping, Dutch craftsmanship, quality, and the shared conviction that a good tent should last a lifetime. Behind the scenes, this creates ample opportunities to share knowledge, craftsmanship, product development and production capacity, further strengthening both brands. The production facility in Czechia also plays an important role in this.
